Wilmington girls GU9-1 played the Billerica U10 G3-C team away in Billerica on Saturday. As a result of all the rain this week the field conditions were pretty soggy, this didn’t stop either team from playing as hard as they could.

Addyson Hunt started the game in goal and did a tremendous job defending Wilmington’s net making some great saves. Arianna Cook and Eva Boudreau played fantastic defense, passing the ball to Callie Mccaulley who was able to speed through Billerica’s defense bringing the ball all the way down the field. Callie Mccaulley made a great shot, scoring Wilmington’s first goal of the game and tying the game 1-1. Again, Wilmington’s defense of Alyssa Costantiello and Emma Alworth did a good job of getting the ball up the side to the forwards Jillian Collins, Allesandra Delgenio, and Alexandra Malley. Allesandra Delgenio had a strong shots on goal constantly pressuring Billerica’s defense. A perfect pass from Callie Mccauley to Skylar Driscoll who then had a breakaway and nice shot on goal resulting in a corner kick for Wilmington. Grace Berrier was in perfect position for the corner kick, scoring Wilmington’s second goal of the game! A great first half for the girls they kept the ball in the offensive zone the majority of the half constantly, pressuring Billerica’s strong defense and Goalie.

The second half of the game started just as strong as the first, Alexandra Malley was now in goal and wasn’t afraid to get in the action defending wilmington’s net. The forward line of Arianna Cook, Addyson Hunt, and Eva Boudreau kept Billerica’s defense busy with some strong shots on net. A great show of teamwork and passing combinations between the Wilmington girls, Emma Alworth to Skylar Driscol, to Alyssa Costantiello. Alyssa Costantiello had a solid shot, scoring Wilmington’s third goal of the game! Eva Boudreaux made a great pass to Arianna Cook who didn’t hesitate and scored Wilmington’s fourth goal of the game, making the final score 4-1 Wilmington. Billerica, had the first goal of the game but, the Wilmington girls didn’t let that stop them.

Despite the less than perfect field conditions, the Wilmington girls worked together as a team and earned another great win.
