NEW LONDON, NH — Colby-Sawyer nursing student Courtney Figucia, of Wilmington, recently completed a research project with four other students at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon, N.H. The project was supervised by Associate Professor of Nursing and Public Health Shari Goldberg, Ph.D., R.N. Figucia and her classmates worked with the Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic at DHMC.
Figucia graduated on Saturday, May 7, as a member of the class of 2016.
Colby-Sawyer’s nursing program integrates the liberal arts and sciences with the professional education required for nursing practice and to prepare students for the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). In addition to building a foundation in the liberal arts, the program’s core components ensure that students develop the knowledge and skills essential to the nursing practice and the professional role of the nurse. DHMC considers Colby-Sawyer its own undergraduate nursing program, and DHMC nurses help educate students in the laboratory and clinical aspects of their education.
The nursing program is housed in the School of Health Professions, along with baccalaureate programs in public health and health promotion. This fall, the School of Health Professions will offer a Master of Science in Nursing degree, the college’s first graduate program.
