POLICE LOG for May 1: Chickens In The Road; Car Break-In; Child Calls 911

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are NINE highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Sunday, May 1, 2016:

  • A Verizon crew near Jiffy Lube on Main Street was advised to stop working until a detail officer arrived. (7:36am)
  • K9 Ridic assisted in a search for a motor vehicle breaking & entering suspect in Billerica. (7:45am)
  • Police notified Water Department that sprinters at the ballfields across from the Boutwell School have been on for hours and the field is flooded. (10:28am)
  • A brown 2011 Mazda Protege and a black 2012 Chevy Volt were involved in a crash at Eames Street and Main Street. No injuries reported. One vehicles towed. (12:16pm)
  • A Ring Avenue resident reported past vandalism to his mailbox. (12:30pm)
  • Police received a 911 call from the emergency box at the WHS Football Field entrance. Police responded. There was no emergency — a child was playing with the phone. (12:49pm)
  • A walk-in party reported their vehicle was entered and items were taken on Piling Road. (1:24pm)
  • A Dell Drive caller reported dirt bikes behind his house. Police were unable to locate them. (3:46pm)
  • Police came across a flock of chiders in the roadway on Cunningham Street. Resident from #11 Cunningham Street came to collect them. (6:03pm)
