QUESTION OF THE DAY: How Do You Like The New Traffic Lights?

WILMINGTON, MA — The traffic lights at the intersection of Middlesex Avenue, Glen Road and Wildwood Street went “live” on Thursday.  The lights are in “testing mode” for 30 days.

The Wilmington Police Department asks motorists to use caution and keep in mind a few things:

  • If you are heading east on Middlesex Ave, do not stop in the hashed area and block access to Wildwood Street.
  • Please observe all signs that state “No Turn on Red.”
  • The breakdown lane in front of Nichols is not a right turn lane to Wildwood Street.

For questions and complaints, residents are asked to contact the Wilmington Department of Public Works at 978-658-4481.

  1. I hate the new light! It adds 10 minutes to my commute to work because of the traffic it causes at that intersection as well as the Middlesex Ave and Concord St intersection!!

  2. The new lights suck. Terrible idea. Now you’re backed up all the way past the light at federal street and when the light turns, only about 4 cars are able to go before it turns again. And also drivers have no common sense and they sit between two lanes because they’re dumb and can’t make a decision. That “bike lane” is basically suicide. Yes, let’s have bikers go right down the middle of two lanes of cars. That’ll eliminate all the bikers on the road, so that’s actually a decent solution. Setting up bikers to be easily killed is the only good thing about these new lights. Waste of time and money. Not just the town’s time, but every driver that has to pass through that intersection. Way to go.

  3. If they eliminate the No Turn on Red it would help alot. I sit there waiting to turn onto Wildwood and there are absolutely no cars coming toward that area, and also coming out of Wildwood to take a right – wait until it’s safe and turn. Same for Federal Street to Rte 62. I try to avoid the area at all costs.
