WILDCAT WAKEUP: WHS Softball Blows Out Stoneham

WILMINGTON, MA — The WHS Varsity Softball Team (4-3) soundly defeated Stoneham, 9-1, at Wilmington Town Park on Friday afternoon for their fourth victory in a row.

Freshman starter Ally Moran recorded 11 strikeouts in the win.

The Wildcats’ offensive standouts included Shannon Horgan (3-run homer) and Antonia Kieran (2-3, 2 RBI).  Wilmington’s #1 & #2 hitters — Jen Dovidio and Dana Goulet — did their jobs, reaching base on 7 out of 8 plate appearances, scoring 5 times.

Wilmington turned in a stellar play defensively in the fifth inning, when a successful 8-4-5-2 relay/cutoff play (Garrard to Goulet to Dovidio to Horgan) resulted in a Stoneham runner getting thrown out at home with bases loaded and one out.

NEXT UP: The WHS Softball Team (4-3) takes on Burlington on Monday, May 2 at 4:10pm at Marvin Field in Burlington.
