WILMINGTON, MA — Below are recent Wilmington Little League game summaries.
Wednesday, April 20, 2016 — Braves vs. Astros (Farm League)
The Braves Farm team opened the season with an exciting game against the Astros. It consisted of great swings at the plate from players like Shane McDonald and Pat DeLucia. In the field, there was some fantastic defensive. In particular, Luke Kitanov and Dominic Dicenso fought off some difficult bounces, at first base and third base respectively. They stayed the ball in front of them and made some great plays. The Astros came out swinging as every player recorded at least two hits, including two from Evan Cummings, Chris DeFilippo, and Kevin Pruslin, three from Quinn Stockman, James Passerini, and Dylan Alexander, four from Connor Sullivan, Isaac Tavares, Ryan Gray, and Erin McCarthy, and five from Mikey Taylor and Roman DiZoglio. Gray and Passerini each struck out the side in dominant pitching performances, and there were many outstanding plays in the field by Stockman, McCarthy, Taylor, Sullivan, DiZoglio, and many others.

The U12 Royals team opened the season with an exciting 13-9 win against the North Reading Dick’s Sporting Good team. With strong pitching by Lily Rubin and Audrey Powers and defense behind the plate by catchers Julie Campbell and Chase Anderson, the team was able to maintain a lead for the majority of the game. This was helped by the strong fielding of Emily Freitas, Ashley MacGilvray, and Katy Finnegan. Combined with the powerful bat of Jordan Quick, Meg Tompkins and Paige Lohrman, victory was assured in this game.
