POLICE LOG for April 21: Bar Fight At Chili’s; Theft At Cemetery; Fox Sightings

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are ELEVEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Thursday, April 21, 2016:

  • Police found a child’s backpack on Butters Row bridge, determined owner, and returned to the student’s father. (9:13am)
  • Police and Animal Control Officer advised numerous residents at park behind Town Hall of the town’s leash law. (9:21am, etc.)
  • Maintenance worker at Regency Place on Horseshoe Lane reported possible six fox in near the parking lot. Police were unable to locate. (10:17am)
  • Police received report of a pitbull-type dog running around the area near Market Basket. Dog was quickly located by owner. (12:27pm)
  • A caller reported an older man was jogging down the middle of the roadway on High Street and Middlesex Avenue, causing vehicles to swerve around him.  Caller stated man was not wearing any shoes. Police were unable to locate man. (12:40pm)
  • A Birch Road caller reported a red fox roaming the area. Police were unable to locate. (1:23pm)
  • A blue 1997 Dodge Ram truck hit a pole near the 03 North ramp on Concord Street. Vehicle occupant(s) suffered unspecified injuries. Vehicle was towed. Pole was damaged. Massachusetts Department of Transportation was notified. (2:58pm)
  • A McDonald Road resident reported a gray Dodge pickup has sit in the road near new construction since winter with no plates. Police attempted to contact owner, but there was no answer. (4:41pm)
  • A walk-in party reported items were stolen from her husband’s grave at the Wildwood Cemetery. (6:12pm)
  • A good samaritan found a wallet at Market Basket, with a debit card and $41 cash, and brought it to the Police Station. Police contacted Billerica Police to contact owner. (8:13pm)
  • Robert M. Carlin, Jr. (22, Wilmington) was issued a summons for assault & battery with a dangerous weapon.  Carlin and another man got into a fight at the bar at Chili’s on Main Street. Employee called the police.  One of the men then left and entered Cumberland Farms, where an employee called the police.  Both men were transported by the Fire Department. (11:32pm)
