WILDCAT WAKEUP: WHS Baseball Beat Division Leader With Gracia’s Arm, Jackson’s Bat

WILMINGTON, MA — The WHS Varsity Baseball Team (3-3) has clawed its way back to .500 with an impressive 3-2 win over division leader Wakefield High (5-2) on Monday afternoon.

Wilmington starter Dan Gracia pitched a complete game, scattering 8 hits over 7 innings, surrendering just two runs.  Gracia, who struck out five and walked just one, improved to 2-0 on the season.

WHS pitching phenom Jackson Gillis had himself quite the day at the plate, going 3-for-3 with a double and 2 RBI.  Brian Cavanaugh scored two runs after reaching base on a walk and fielder’s choice. Justin Kannally scored a run after reaching base courtesy of an error.  Matt Spurr and Justin Leger each recorded a hit for the Wildcats.

NEXT UP: The WHS Baseball Team (3-3) take on Watertown on Wednesday, April  27 at 3:45pm at Wilmington High School.
