WILMINGTON, MA — When Wilmington voters go to Town Meeting this Saturday, April 30 at 10:30am in the High School Auditorium, they will be asked to support several capital requests from the Wilmington Police and Fire Departments, including:
- $650,000 for one replacement pumper for the Fire Department (Article 6)
- $260,000 for one replacement ambulance for the Fire Department (Article 6)
- $220,000 for five replacement cruisers for the Police Department (Article 6)
- $53,000 for one replacement command vehicle for the Fire Department (Article 6)
- $50,000 for the replacement of portable radios for the Fire Department (Article 9)
- $32,500 for the first phase of purchases of electronic control weapons (“tasers”) for the Police Department (Article 8)
Voters will also be asked to approve the FY17 operational budgets (Article 5) for public safety:
- $4.738 million for the Wilmington Police Department
- $3.946 million for the Wilmington Fire Department
- $646,572 for the Wilmington Public Safety Central Dispatch
- $62,245 for Wilmington Animal Control
The Annual Town Meeting will be telecast live by Wilmington Community Television on WCTV-G — Channel 22 on Comcast and Channel 38 on Verizon. The meeting will also be streamed on WCTV’s website HERE.
