BREAKING: Bendel & Caira Win Selectmen Race In Landslide

WILMINGTON, MA — The polls have closed and the winners of Wilmington’s 2016 Annual Town Election have been announced.  Winners are in blue.  Results are currently “unofficial,” but based on Town Clerk Sharon George’s public tabulations.

Board of Selectmen (2 winners, 3-year term)

  • Greg Bendel – 1,374
  • Kevin Caira – 1,419
  • Joe Lavino – 231
  • Tom Miller – 567

School Committee (3 winners, 3-year terms)

  • Julie Broussard  – 1,365
  • Peggy Kane – 1,434
  • Tom Talbot – 1,256

Shawsheen Tech School Committee (1 winner, 3-year term)

  • Robert G. Peterson – 1,645

Housing Authority (1 winner, 5-year term)

  • Write-In Candidate — Too Close To Call

Wilmington Town Clerk Sharon George referred to the voter turnout as “very low” and “disappointing.”  Turnout was about 13% – just 2,007 voters.
