WILMINGTON, MA — WHS Baseball (2-3) suffered its second straight close loss, falling to Melrose, 4-2, at home on Friday.
Wilmington starter Matt Woods pitched well, striking out 7, walking 1, and scattering 9 hits over 6 innings. Woods surrendered just 2 earned runs.
It was Wilmington’s offense that struggled for a second consecutive game. The Wildcats’ bats were silent for the first 5 innings, but came alive in the sixth thanks to an RBI double from Chris Grecco and an RBI single from Danny Gracia. Grecco and Brian Cavanaugh scored the Cats only two runs.
NEXT UP: The WHS Baseball Team (2-3) takes on Wakefield on Monday, April 25 at 3:45pm at Wilmington High.
