WILMINGTON, MA — WHS Baseball (2-1) defeated rival Tewksbury in convincing fashion Monday, with a 7-1 victory in the first game played at the new Dick Scanlon Memorial Field at Wilmington High.
Danny Gracia (5 H, 5 K, 1 BB) pitched a complete game for the win.
The Wildcats scored five runs in the 3rd inning. A double from Jackson Gillis scored Matt Spurr and Brian Cavanaugh. A double from Joe Kelley scored Gillis. A double from Chris Grecco scored Kelley. Kelley would then score on an error generated off the bat of Matt Woods.
The Wildcats scored two more runs in the 5th inning. Grecco led off with a walk, which was followed by a successful bunt single from Woods. Robbie Ducharme sacrificed them to 2nd and 3rd. Grecco then scored on a wild pitch. Justin Leger would complete the scoring with a single up the middle, scoring Woods.
