Women’s Softball League Forming In Wilmington, Looking For Players

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is an announcement from Wilmington Little League President Rick Hill:

The ground work has been laid to start a women’s softball league in Wilmington this summer. Currently, the only time that the field at Town Park is available would be from 5-9pm on Sunday nights. It would be ideal to have enough players for 4-6 teams so that every team would play every week. Game times would be 5:00pm, 6:15pm and 7:30pm. Lights will be available to us for the later game.

When this league would start is all up to you! The sooner we get commitments from enough players, the sooner we can formally reserve the field and get started.

We can play an 8-game (8-week) regular season with a playoff Sunday tournament at the end (if possible).

The cost to join the league will be minimal –$335 per team or $25 per player. League fee would go toward buying softballs, bases, USSSA team registration, paying umpires and any fees charged by the Town.

The league would be associated with USSSA (http://www.usssa.com). The USSSA Area Director and Umpire-in-Chief for our area is Rick Hill (Wilmington resident), who would be one of the administrators for this league (along with 2-3 league reps / player volunteers).

Players need to live in Wilmington OR be WHS Alumni. To learn more about the league and express your interest in participating, join their Facebook group HERE.
