OBITUARY: Patricia Burns, 74

YORK, ME — Patricia Burns, longtime resident of York, Maine and Siesta Key, Florida, went to rest April 4, 2016.

Pat spent her happy childhood in Dracut Mass with her parents Andrew Burns and Isabelle (Litchfield) Burns and her two older brothers, William and Robert all now deceased. She attended Dracut High school (class of 1960) where she played varsity basketball. Summers she was a counselor at St. Mary’s camp in Tyngsboro, MA.

Pat received her Bachelor’s degree from Notre Dame of Maryland in Speech Pathology and her Masters degree in audiology from Emerson College in Boston. She was employed with the public school systems in Wilmington and Medford Mass for many years. Her last years of employment were spent as a school counselor and basketball coach for the middle school boys team in her Medford school.

Always interested in real estate Pat became a licensed realtor and later a broker. She was privileged to enjoy her big home overlooking the magnificent beauty of the ocean in York, Maine.

Children loved her and could sense her sincere interest and love for them. People in general gravitated toward Pat because of her dry humor and her sense of fun. She had a warm loving nature, a beautiful smile and was generous beyond measure.

As a Patriot and Red Sox fan there was no one more loyal than Pat! She enjoyed playing bocce at the Rough and shooting pool at the Bluff where everyone called her Aunty. Her most beloved nieces Barbara Burns Flanagan and Stephanie Moore and her nephew William Burns cared for her lovingly, untiringly and heroically during her very long illness with cancer. She will be dearly missed by Kevin, Alee and Kara Moore and Sean Flanagan and her sister in law Patricia Shaw.

She also leaves behind her niece Samantha Burns and nephew Robert Burns, many grand nieces and nephews and many cousins and friends throughout the country.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be announced at a later date.
