LIBRARY LINEUP: Young Child Art Show, SAT Practice Test Session

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Adult Programs:

Interview Prep *RR
Monday, April 11, 10 am
Are you nervous about interviewing? In this workshop you will learn effective strategies so that you will be prepared to make a great first impression, answer the hard-hitting questions effectively, and always stay in the running thought the application and interview process. There will also be a short discussion on resume writing. Presented by Tom Falzareno, Business Development Manager for Tandem Labs.

Intro to the Cloud (limit 12) *RR

Come learn about that mysterious Cloud. Technology Librarian, Brad McKenna, will discuss such cloud based technologies as email, file storage, music/movie streaming.

Tuesday Night Craft – Hand Lettering 102 (cost $5, limit 12)
Tuesday, April 12, 7 pm; Register at main desk.
Learn the craft of hand lettering! This spring, we’ll focus on the art of drawing letters using different mediums and styles. Each class will build on techniques but can also standalone so feel free to just take one class or the whole series! We’ll practice cheater calligraphy, brush lettering, and hand lettering before learning how to ink transfer our hand lettering to make a custom tote bag.

Gardens of Paris*RR
Thursday, April 14, 7 pm
Inspired by a three-week stay in the City of Light, this illustrated talk by Susan Gaylord takes you on a visual journey through seventeen public Paris gardens from the well-known Jardin du Luxembourg to small pocket parks and gardens, from the past—the medieval garden at the Cluny Museum—to the present—the Promenade Plantée created on a raised rail line in 1993. You’ll experience the beauty of the gardens and learn a little history along the way.

Read to Zoey *RR
Monday, April 11, 6:30-7:30 pm
Read to Zoey, the listening Labrador. Zoey is a great listener who loves to have kids of all ages read to her and improve their reading skills. Zoey has been certified as a therapy dog by the Pets & People Foundation. Please call 978-694-2098 to sign up for a 15-minute session.

Join us for a discussion of Camp Babymouse by Jennifer L. Holm. One lucky attendee with receive a copy of the newest Babymouse book, Babymouse Goes for the Gold! Grades 1-3.

SAT Practice Test *RR
Tuesday, April 19, 1– 5:30 pm
Practice the new SAT for free! Organized through the Princeton Review, students take the entire 3 hour and 50 minute test allowing an extra 25 minutes for breaks, and then receive their scores via email. Grades 11-12

Teen Job Fair
Wednesday, April 20, 1:30-4:30 pm Ages 14+
Teens interested in getting a job this summer or after school should make sure to attend WML’s 2nd Annual Teen Job Fair. Learn about local job and volunteer opportunities for teens. Meet representatives from community businesses and organizations and pick up applications. Representatives from McDonalds, Panera Bread, Dunkin Donuts, Market Basket and more will be coming to this year’s Job Fair.

Library Staff Picks
If you are looking for recommended reads, check out the library’s Reader Resources page at http://www.wilmlibrary.org. Here you will find some library staff picks. Lin Harris, Assistant Technical Services Librarian recommends My Name is Lucy Barton by Elizabeth Strout. A hospital stay creates the setting for a family reconciliation when Lucy’s estranged mother comes to keep her company during her recovery. Family relationships are at the heart of this book – both from Lucy’s growing up years and her love for her two young daughters and underlying marriage troubles. A tender and insightful mother-daughter story.

Book Store Next Door Hours
The Friends of the Library Book Store Next Door is open on Wednesday and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. Shop for gently used books at bargain prices. All proceeds benefit the Wilmington Memorial Library.
