POLICE LOG for March 30: Dog Digs Up Disturbing Surprise In Yard; Carjacking Suspect Flees

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are NINE highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Wednesday, March 30, 2016:

  • A high school crossing guard reported a vehicle did not obey crosswalk law. Partial plate reported and described as a white Volkswagen. (7:54am)
  • A Glen Road homeowner’s dog dug up the remains of another animal in yard of newly purchased home. Caller believed the house was abandoned prior to his moving in.  Dog only recovered a leg and caller is unable to identity species of animal. Caller asked for the Animal Control Officer to respond. (2:48pm)
  • Police assisted the Fire Department with a brush fire near Town Hall. (3:36pm)
  • A Woburn Street resident reported a suspicious man was walking around taking pictures of houses. Police checked the area, but the man was gone on arrival. (4:04pm)
  • Wires were reported down on Butters Row. Police notified RMLD. (4:48pm)
  • An employee’s vehicle was reported vandalized at the Milestone Group Home on High Street. (5:50pm)
  • A 2-car crash occurred at Salem Street and King Avenue. Minor injuries reported. (6:17pm)
  • A 2-car accident occurred in the Target parking lot, when one vehicle backed into another. No injuries reported. (8:02pm)
  • Police located vehicle on Avalon Drive that was carjacked from Tewksbury earlier in the day. Tewksbury Police, which responded as well, reported a male party was seen running down Ballardvale Street. (10:49pm) [NOTE: Man would eventually be captured in New Hampshire.]
