WILMINGTON, MA — At Monday night’s Board of Selectmen Meeting, Town Manager Jeff Hull provided an update on the Glen Road/Middlesex Avenue/Wildwood Street Intersection project.
Hull announced that, assuming there are no more snowstorms, the new traffic signals will be activated to the “test/flashing” mode in “about six weeks” and remain in that mode for 30 days before becoming fully operational.
Based on this timeline, drivers can expect the signals to be working by mid-June.
When asked by Selectwoman Judy O’Connell and Selectman Mike Champoux why the process can’t be expedited and the test/flashing mode just begin now, Hull blamed the busy schedule of the construction company, MDR Construction.
As slowly as the project seems to be moving, Hull also noted that MDR Construction actually has until the end of 2016 to make the lights fully operational, per their contract with the Mass Department of Transportation.
