POLICE LOG for March 19: Cars Not Stopping For Walkers In Crosswalks; ATVs Causing Trouble

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are SIX highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Saturday, March 19, 2016:

  • Detail officer spoke with a party soliciting donations at the Shriners Auditorium. Officer advised him of the proper permit process and sent him on his way. (12:48pm)
  • Anonymous caller reported quads and ATVs were operating in the area of Benevento Sand & Stone. Police witnessed the dirt bikes operating around construction equipment, but parties fled towards North Reading and Route 125.  Employees of Benevento’s were asked to contact the station if they return. (2:16pm)
  • A Burlington Avenue caller reported a can of paint was thrown at their house sometime last night. (4:26pm)
  • A caller reported that at numerous locations on Church Street and Middlesex Avenue, vehicles are not stopping for pedestrians at crosswalks. Caller requested extra patrols. (5:03pm)
  • Door alarm at Wilmington Middle School was triggered.  Police checked the building, which was secure.  Police approached a group of youths playing in the field who stated they “may have bumped into the door.”  Police sent the kids on their way. (7:31pm)
  • A gray 2007 Suzuki Aerio struck a wall and a parked car in a driveway on West Street. Vehicle was towed and operator was taken to Lahey Clinic. (9:03pm)
