SCAM ALERT: State Police Warn Of Despicable Door-To-Door Solicitation Scam Near Wilmington

BOSTON, MA — The Massachusetts State Police shared the following scam alert on Wednesday:

The Massachusetts State Police is investigating a report of someone going door-to-door in Tewksbury claiming to be part of a police organization and fundraising for the children of Trooper Thomas Clardy, who died as a result of injuries sustained when his cruiser was struck by a vehicle last week.

The only two official funds which have been set up to collect such donations are the following:

The Clardy Children’s Fund
C/O Avidia Bank
42 Main Street, Hudson, MA 01749

The Greg Hill Foundation (www.thegreghillfoundation.org)

Be advised that neither the Massachusetts State Police, nor to our knowledge any other police organization, are collecting donations for this cause by going door-to-door or by telephone. Again, the only two official funds are listed above.
