2016 Wildcat Summer Sports Clinics Announced

WILMINGTON, MA – At Wednesday night’s School Committee Meeting, WHS Athletic Director Ed Harrison announced details surrounding the 2016 Wildcat Summer Sports Clinics.

“This will be the eight year the clinics have been run by the WHS Athletic Department,” wrote Director of Administration and Finance Paul Ruggiero in a memo to the Committee.  “Over the past seven years, the summer clinics have averaged over 366 participants and brought in almost $405,000 in gross revenue.

11 clinics will be offered this summer in the following sports: Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Field Hockey, Flag Football, Volleyball, Boys Lacrosse, Girls Lacrosse, “All Sports,” Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer and Track.

All clinics will run for five days in a week for a total of 28 hours, with the exception of Track and Volleyball, which will run for four days and 24 hours.

The cost of the clinics remain at $175 per week for each sport, with the exception of Track and Volleyball, which will cost $150.  Additional clinic enrollment is discounted $25 per clinic.

Below are some details on the sports clinics, based on the program’s flyer:

  • The clinics, for children in Grades 1-8, are sponsored by the Wilmington High School Athletic Department.
  • The clinics are run by Wilmington High School Coaches, Alumni and Athletes.
  • The clinics will be held at at Wilmington High School, after several years at the Middle School due to high school construction.
  • The cost of each clinic remains $175 per child for the child’s first clinic and $150 for each additional clinic for that child.
  • The clinics, with the exception of Volleyball and Track, run 8:30am-2:30pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8:30am-12:30pm on Friday.
  • The clinics for Volleyball and Track run 8am to 2:30pm, Monday through Thursday, during the week of July 5.
  • The focus on each clinic is the development of skills through activity-based drills and scrimmages.
  • The ultimate goal of the clinics is to develop children who enjoy participating in athletics

  • 6/20-6/24: Boys Basketball, Field Hockey
  • 6/27-7/1: Girls Basketball, Flag Football
  • 7/5-7/8: Track, Volleyball
  • 7/11-7/15: “All Sports”
  • 7/18-7/22: Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer
  • 7/25-7/29: Boys Lacrosse, Girls Lacrosse
