12 WHS Student Athletes Named Middlesex League All-Stars

WILMINGTON, MA – At Wednesday night’s School Committee Meeting, WHS Athletic Director Ed Harrison gave a brief synopsis of the school’s 2015-2016 winter season.

Harrison recognized 12 Wilmington High student athletes who attained Middlesex League All-Star status:

  • Caroline Andersen (Girls Basketball)
  • Alyssa Bernazani (Girls Track)
  • Brian Cavanaugh (Boys Hockey)
  • Julia Gake (Girls Track)
  • Deven Langenfeld (Boys Track)
  • Alexica Luna (Girls Track)
  • Kyle Nelson (Boys Track)
  • Elisabeth Olson (Girls Track)
  • Sam Pitzi (Girls Track)
  • Victoria Sheehan (Girls Track)
  • Evan Sperlinga (Boys Track)
  • Olivia Wingate (Girls Hockey)

Harrison also acknowledged three WHS wrestlers for their impressive accomplishments:

  • Sam Jennings and James Carroll both qualified for the Division III North Tournament
  • Fox Maxwell won the Division III North Tournament (138 lobs) and went on to place 4th at All-States

Harrison also highlighted several team accomplishments, including:

  • WHS Girls Track had its most successful season ever, capturing the Middlesex League Championship for the first time and finishing 10th at states
  • WHS Girls Cheerleading Squad finished first at a Middlesex League Meet and placed third in regionals
  • WHS Boys Ice Hockey made the State Tournament and was knocked out in the second round by #1-seeded Arlington

Superintendent Mary DeLai got in on the praise, giving a “shout out” to WHS Girls Hockey senior Jamie Spinazola for stepping up, taking a risk, and becoming the team’s goalie despite never having played the position before.
