MALDEN, MA — Malden Mayor Gary Christenson recently welcomed the newest member of the Malden High School Athletic Department, new Head Football Coach William Manchester. Bill will replace Joseph Pappagallo, who recently retired. Through a rigorous search process that was led by MHS Athletic Director Dan Keefe, Bill was selected over several candidates to take the Golden Tornadoes to the next level!

Bill holds a M.Ed. in Organizational Management from Endicott College, has a M.Ed. in Education, a B.S. in Secondary Education/Mathematics from Springfield College and holds many additional Massachusetts Education Certifications. Bill brings his 23 years of coaching experience to Malden, including 12 years as a Head Football Coach and 11 years as an Assistant Coach at the high school and college levels. Throughout his 45 seasons of coaching, Bill has taught all levels of high school math, as well as physics, personal finance and health. Bill comes highly recommended by all who have worked with him and the City of Malden is thrilled to welcome him to the City.

“We were impressed by Bill’s positive approach toward his students as well as his organizational skills,” said MHS Athletic Director Dan Keefe. “Bill has big shoes to fill with the retirement of Coach Pappagallo — we are looking forward to a great football season!”
