Wilmington Fire Department Featured On NESN’s ‘Behind The B’ Bruins TV Show

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Fire Department is featured in the latest episode of NESN’s Behind The B TV show.  The episode first aired on Monday, March 14.

The show highlights a visit several Boston Bruins players made to the Wilmington Public Safety Building back on Wednesday, March 2. Players included Torey Krug, Kevan Miller, Jimmy Hayes, and Zach Trotman.

“One of the reasons for this visit with Wilmington’s first responders is to make sure the people of this town know how much they’ve meant to the black & gold,” says narrator Denis Leary.

The Bruins have practiced at Ristuccia Arena since 1987, but will be moving into a brand new practice facility in Brighton this September.

Torey Krug presented the Fire Department with a customized Bruins jersey autographed by the entire team.

“On behalf of the Bruins, thanks for letting us be a part of your family for so long,” announced Krug.

Krug, who can be seen trying on a WFD uniform and equipment, mentioned how much he appreciates the sacrifices that firefighters make to keep the community safe.

Bruins players and personnel also visited to show their support for a group of Wilmington and Beverly Firefighters who were participating in the 2nd Annual Firefighters Stair Climb in New York on March 13.  The fundraiser memorializes the firefighters lost on 9/11.

John Whitesides, the Strength & Conditioning Coach, presented the Fire Department with a special Garnet “Ace” Bailey jersey.

Bailey, who played for the Bruins in the 60’s and 70’s, was a victim of the September 11th terrorist attacks.  He was a passenger of United Airlines Flight 175.

The Wilmington firefighters participating in the Stair Climb were asked to bring Bailey’s jersey to the World Trade Center event to honor him.
