WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SEPAC) is sponsoring a workshop for parents and teachers on Monday, March 21 at 6:30pm in the Wilmington High School Media Room.
The workshop will cover the Special Education Mediation Process. Myrto Flessas and Leslie Boch, Mediator from Bureau of Special Education, will facilitate the workshop.
This workshop will address:
- When to request mediation
- How to request mediation
- Preparation for mediation
- Expectation from mediation
Special Education Mediation is a voluntary and confidential dispute resolution process
available at no cost through the BSEA. When school personnel and parents disagree about the educational needs of a student with disabilities, either party may request mediation. This informal, collaborative problem‐solving process encourages mutual respect, promotes communication and often provides the basis for positive working relationships between parents and school staff
