Wilmington K9 Ridic Helps Catch Bad Guy In Andover

Wilmington Police Department K9 Ridic helped locate a suspected burglar in Andover earlier this week.

TEWKSBURY, MA — On Monday, February 29th, 2016, at approximately 2:45 PM, members of the Tewksbury Police Department responded to a residence on William G. Drive for a reported housebreak. The homeowner had discovered a suspicious motor vehicle in his driveway and subsequently confirmed that his home had been broken into. The homeowner was able to follow the vehicle as it fled from the area. The suspect vehicle was operating recklessly and was stopped by Andover Police just into Andover.

A second individual (who also fled William G. Drive on foot) was located by Wilmington and Andover K9 Units inside a shed in the rear of an Andover residence.  The driver of the suspect vehicle that fled the scene of the Tewksbury housebreak was identified by Andover Police as Brandon Simmons, 28, of 51 Causeway Street in Seabrook, New Hampshire. Andover Police arrested Simmons for the following offenses, which occurred in Andover: Operating to Endanger, Possession of Burglarious Tools, Possession of a Class A Substance (heroin), and Marked Lanes Violation.

This second subject was identified as Keith Babcock, 33, of 8 Raymond Drive in Seabrook, New Hampshire. Andover Police subsequently arrested Babcock for the following offenses, which occurred in Andover: Possession of a Class A Substance (heroin), and Breaking and Entering (shed for a misdemeanor). In addition, Babcock had two outstanding warrants for his arrest.

Keith Babcock and Brandon Simmons were arraigned in Lawrence District Court on March 1st, 2016, and were held on high bail.

Tewksbury Detectives requested the issuance of felony arrest warrants from Lowell District Court for both Simmons and Babcock for Breaking and Entering During the Daytime for Felony, Malicious Destruction of Property Over $250, and Larceny Over $250 and the warrants were both issued.
