Susan H. (Hirschberg) Linet MD, 58, of Freeport, ME died Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family due to complications associated with Multiple Sclerosis.
Born in New York City, NY, she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Pennsylvania and a MD from New York Medical College.
Dr. Linet was awarded her certification by the American Board of Pediatrics and had been in private practice with the Regional Health Center of Wilmington, MA; and Acton Medical Associates before moving to Maine in 2006.
She was an active member of Congregation Beth Elohim in Acton, MA where she served on the board of directors. Dr. Linet was a board member of the United Way of Acton and a consumer member of the State of Maine’s Long Term Care Commission.
Susan is survived by her loving husband, Paul Linet, to whom she was married for nearly 32 years; her parents, Ellen and Jerrold Hirschberg of New York, NY; her daughter Ariel Linet and husband, Daniel Goodman of Mt. Vernon, NY; her daughter Sarah Linet and husband Dylan Maeby of Portland, ME; two brothers, Andrew Hirschberg and his wife, Karen of Westport, CT and David Hirschberg and his wife Linda of Medford, MA; her mother in-law, Audrey Linet of Boynton Beach, FL; her sister in-law, Ann London of Bethesda, MD; her brother in-law Richard Linet of Providence, RI and a very loving extended family.
The family wishes to thank all of the compassionate caregivers and physicians who became integral to Susan’s life over the decades during which Susan faced each challenge presented by the disease.
Memorial Services Thursday at 1:00 P.M. at Congregation Beth Elohim, 133 Prospect Street, Acton, MA. Burial in the Beit Olam East Cemetery, Wayland, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family has established a fund in Susan’s memory to be used to assist families and caregivers in Maine and Massachusetts. Contributions may be made to the Susan Hirschberg Linet Foundation, Inc. c/o Bath Savings Institution, Lower Main Street, Freeport, ME 04032.
