WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington School Committee unanimously approved two donations, totaling more than $7,500, from the Wilmington Educational Foundation on Wednesday night.
The Wilmington Educational Foundation (WEF) donated $4,487 in the form of THREE Curriculum Grants.
- $1,917 to the Wilmington Middle School for a Squid Dissection activity for Grade 6 students, in collaboration with the New England Aquarium’s “Inside Out Squid Dissection” program
- $500 to the Wilmington Middle School for a “Novel Study” program for Grade 6 and 7 students. Specifically, the money will be used to purchase multiple copies of several books, including Old Yeller, Bud Not Buddy, and Love That Dog.
- $2,070 to the Shawsheen Elementary for an 8-week student training and parent meetings series involving “Mindfulness and Family Engagement”
The Wilmington Educational Foundation (WEF) also donated $3,080 to the school district’s 2016 STEM Fair.
“We can’t thank the WEF enough,” said School Committee Chairwoman Peggy Kane. “The school system totally appreciates all of this.”
