WILMINGTON, MA — The Social Concerns Committee of Wilmington United Methodist Church invites you to a coffeehouse presentation and discussion on human trafficking and modern day slavery in the United States and internationally on Sunday, February 28, from 12:30pm to 2pm, at the Church (87 Church Street).
There will be a brief overview of the modern manifestations of this persistent human rights issue, followed by dialogue, and a call to action for our church and community.
High school youth: Please join us for a special breakout session on youth victims of trafficking, where we will identify opportunities for you to serve as an advocate for peers at risk of trafficking and exploitation.
Get acquainted with the issue by viewing this powerful TED talk by Kevin Bales, Professor and Founder of Free the Slaves.
Materials from the U.S. government Office on Trafficking in Persons Rescue and Restore coalition will be available to assist social service providers in recognizing warning signs and available resources.
