WILMINGTON, MA — The vacant Middlesex Avenue located in North Wilmington, across from Pizza Mia/Uptown Deli, was demolished last Wednesday, February 17.
The plaza was once home to Santa Maria Pizza (closed October 2015), The Family Treasure Chest consignment shop (closed May 2014) and The Donut Shop (closed September 2012).
Wilmington Community Television captured a before & after photo and shared on social media last week:

According to the real estate listing, the plaza (9,800 square feet) — along with the 2-story building behind it (4,600 square feet) — sat on 2 acres of land zoned for “general business.” Coupled with its proximity to the North Wilmington Train Station and the Registry of Motor Vehicles, the site could prove to be a desirable location.
Speculation has been running rampant about what new business, or businesses, may locate there. Wilmington Apple recently made an inquiry to Town Hall about the property.
“The building was demolished, but there are no immediate redevelopment plans for the site,” Wilmington Planning Director Valerie Gingrich tells Wilmington Apple. “Any future development there would need to go through the site plan review process with the Planning Board.”
An email to Paul Kneeland of Boylston Realty Advisors, which is handling the redevelopment, went unreturned. Wilmington Apple will update readers once it hears more.
