Earnest E. Whitcomb, “Earnie”, age 85, of Wilmington, formerly of Dalton, NH, died peacefully at home on February 12, 2016.
Earnie was the beloved husband of Mary A. (King) Whitcomb, devoted father of Vicki Jenkins & her husband Ronald of Centerville, TN, Vanessa Armstrong & her husband John of Medford, MA, and Kimberly Maldonado of Florida. Loving Grandfather of Renea, Amanda, Suzanne, Terri, Heather, Jennifer, Stephanie, the late Jason Jenkins and several great-grandchildren. Dear son of the late Amos J. and Esther A. (Fearon) Whitcomb, brother of James Whitcomb of California, Ed Whitcomb of Illinois, Frank Whitcomb of Connecticut, Martha Porfido of New Hampshire, the late Amos J. Whitcomb and Mary Jane Sheridan. Earnie is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, for a Funeral Service with Military Honors on Wednesday, February 17th at 11:00 a.m. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 16th from 4:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Earnest’s memory may be made to VNA Hospice Care, 100 Trade Center, Suite G-500, Woburn, MA 01801. Earnie was a U. S. Air Force Veteran during the Korean War and a retired Air Traffic Controller for Logan Airport in Boston.
