LIBRARY LINEUP: Jedi Training, Talent Show, Trivia Night & More Coming Up!

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at http://www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked (RR). Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding support for library programs!

Adult Programs:

Movie Night Black Mass (Rated R)
Tuesday, February 16, 6:30 pm
Johnny Depp stars as the infamous gangster Whitey Bulger in this movie that is based on the book Black Mass  by Dick Lehr and Gerard O’Neill.

Senior Tones *RR
Thursday, February 18, 2:30 pm
The Senior Tones is a band of retirees who love to play the oldies. Howie Conley began the group in 2008 with musical senior ice hockey players.  They perform songs from the 50’s and 60’s, and are always a big hit.  Other members of the group include John Clement, Joey (B-Bop) Barilone, and Frank Henderson.

Novel Ideas: Fiction Book Group *RR

Featured Book:
Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger
Join the library’s fiction book group led by Adult Services Librarian, Kim Rowley. Please stop by the library to pick up a copy of the featured book. Book groups are a wonderful way to expand your reading interests and meet others in the community

After Hours: Trivia Night (limited to 24) *RR
Friday, February 19, 7 pm
February is Oscar time. See what you know about the movies and pop culture—it’s time to show your stuff! Join us for a friendly game of trivia. Snacks and beverages will be provided. Fun prizes for all.

Drop-In Storytime
Friday, February 12, 10 am

Drop in for stories, songs, rhymes and a fun craft! Space is limited, tickets will be distributed on first-come, first served basis. Ages: 2-5 and one or more adults.

Minecraft Fun *RR
Tuesday, February 16, 10 am

Come play Minecraft in creative mode.  Grades 1-3

Jedi Knight Training *RR
Wednesday, February 17, 6:30 pm

Join Jungle Jim as he leads kids through a series of Star Wars challenges including Jedi Force Magic, the Laser Balloon Barrage and Jedi Teamwork culminating in an epic lightsaber duel with the Jedi Master himself! Ages 4+

Minecraft Fun *RR
Thursday, February 18, 10 am

Come play Minecraft in survival mode. Grades 3-5

Crafternoons: Paper Mache Boxes *RR

Join Elaine Sousa to create paper mache boxes.  Grades 4-8

Preschool Movies *RR
Friday, February 19, 10 am

Come watch some movies of your favorite picture books.  Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, Corduroy and How Do Dinosaurs Say Good Night are a few the movies we will be showing.  Ages 3+

Battle of the Fandoms
Friday, February 19, 2-4 pm

Show up in cosplay and defend your favorite fandom with verbal fisticuffs, decorate cupcakes in the style of your favorite wizard, district, or mythological creature, and Skype with the author of Keepers of the Labyrinth. Grades 6-12.

After Hours Wilmington Talent Showcase *RR
Friday, February 19, 7 pm

Do you like to sing, dance, play an instrument, or have a unique talent? Well, here is your time to shine! If you would like to participate, stop by the library to pick up an application. Applications are due Wednesday, February 10, 9 pm.  Rehearsal Wednesday, February 17 at 1 pm (alternate times can be scheduled if necessary).  All ages.
