WILMINGTON, MA — Excel Orthopaedics is proud to provide support to Wilmington Youth Lacrosse Association. This year we will be providing pre-season baseline ImPACT concussion testing and injury screening to lacrosse players age 10 & up. WYLA & Excel feel that it is an important step in order to keep your children safe while participating in lacrosse.
Excel will be using ImPACT computerized concussion evaluation system and move2perform movement measurement and analysis system for testing of all athletes 10 and over, which is currently the gold-standard testing for managing and diagnosing concussions. This will be coupled with a movement pre-injury screening that can pinpoint deficits that could lead to possible physical injury. Developed by clinical experts who pioneered the field, ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) is the most scientifically validated computerized concussion evaluation system used by teams, organizations and individuals globally. Move2Perform helps identify individuals who are at risk of injury. Your athlete will then be provided with individualized exercises to help reduce their likelihood of injury.
The testing will take place on Saturday February 27th at Excel Orthopaedic Specialists (200 Unicorn Park Drive, Woburn) & will be staffed by Excel’s Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants and Certified Athletic Trainers. These baseline tests are MANDATORY for all WYLA players at the U15 & U13 levels.
Testing Schedule:
- U15 Boys 8:30am-10:30am
- U13 Boys 1:00pm-3:00pm
- U13 and U15 Girls 10:30am-12:30pm
Excel will provide the baseline testing for your child and also concussion management services for your child if needed after a suspected head injury. Excel also offers individual baseline ImPACT testing on a monthly basis.
Excel and WYLA consider the health and well being of your child paramount. WYLA has committed to provide payment for these services, so there is NO COST TO REGISTERED WYLA PLAYERS for this valuable pre-season program.
