WILMINGTON, MA — Seven members of the Wilmington Fire Department will be participating in next month’s Annual New York City Firefighter Stair Climb.
On Sunday, March 13, seven Wilmington firefighters will join 336 firefighters from across the country to ascend the 72 floors of 4 World Trade Center in full firefighting gear. While each firefighter will climb in honor of one of the 343 FDNY firefighters killed on September 11th 2001, the climb also memorializes fallen first responders and military personnel worldwide.
This year’s Stair Climb also hopes to raise $50,000 for the New York City Chapter of Team Red, White & Blue. The organization enriches the lives of America’s veterans by connecting them to their community through physical and social activity.
Climbers for “Team Wilmington Fire” include firefighters Christopher Elliot, Paul Hedderson, Erik Nansel, Nicholas Newhall, Charles Taylor, Matthew Tremblay, and Robert Varney. Make an online donation to the team HERE.
