POLICE LOG for January 28: Abandoned Bicycle Leads To Man’s Arrest

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are SEVEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Thursday, January 28, 2016:

  • A gray 2012 Subaru Outback and a gray 2014 Lexus SE 350 were involved in a crash on the 93 North (Exit 38) ramp.  No injuries reported. (11:21am)
  • A caller reported a stolen Wildcats flag from a Wildwood grave site.  Caller called back to report the flag was found in a nearby swamp.  Caller believed flag was blown away by the wind. (11:29am)
  • Caller reported a large pothole near 260 Main Street.  Police notified the Massachusetts Highway Department. (12:26pm)
  • Caller reported a dog was left unattended in a vehicle in the Red Heat Tavern parking lot for over an hour.  Caller also reported car was parked in a handicapped spot without the appropriate plate or placard.  Police arrived as dog owners were leaving the restaurant.  Situation checked OK. (1:05pm)
  • A caller reported a past hit and run in the Market Basket employee parking lot.  (2:21pm)
  • A sewer leak coming from a manhole cover next to Panera Bread was reported. Police told it’s been an ongoing issue and it’s the building owner’s responsibility to have the sewer cleaned out. (7:05pm)
  • Stephen D. McGovern (43, Woburn) was arrested on warrants related to operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, a vehicle equipment violation, and failure to attend jury duty.  Police came across McGovern after searching an area for the owner of an abandoned bicycle at Industrial Way and West Street. The bike belonged to him. (8:30pm)
