PHOTO OF THE DAY: Help Save This Cat’s Life!

WILMINGTON, MA — A recently rescued cat — Congress — is fighting for his life and could use your help.

The Wilmington-based Lots of Love Cat Rescue, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is currently holding an online Facebook auction, to help raise the necessary funds for Congress to receive a surgery that will save his life.

According to the auction organizers, Congress received pelvis surgery after falling out of a vehicle.  He was rushed to vet, where he received an initial surgery and stayed for three days.  Congress now needs an additional life-saving surgery. (His lower organs are currently being held on by his body tissue.)  Congress will also get fixed and microchipped.

View the auction items, current bids and auction rules HERE.  (You need a Facebook account to place a bid.)  Many of the items are geared towards pet lovers.  The auction ends this Sunday, February 14 at 10pm (EST).

Want to support the cause without participating in the auction?  Lots of Love Cat Rescue accepts donations on their website HERE via PayPal.  (Look for the small yellow & blue “donate” button under the large rotating banner of cat photos.)

Lots of Love Cat Rescue, according to its website, was founded on the strongly held belief that “no animal should have to go hungry, be homeless or live in fear or pain.”  The organization, which does not receive any funding from government agencies or national animal welfare agencies, is run and supported by volunteers, with a shared mission to “rescue, provide sanctuary, and re-home abandoned, stray and neglected cats.”  Learn more about the organization HERE.
