PHOTO OF THE DAY: Mass. Youth Soccer Names Wilmington’s Elliot ‘Administrator of the Year’

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington Youth Soccer’s Rob Elliot received the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association’s “Administrator of the Year” award at its annual awards banquet on Sunday, January 24.

The Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association described Rob with the following:

“Rob Elliott has been involved in the Wilmington Youth Soccer program as an administrator, coach and parent for several years. Rob’s countless hours dedicated to the youth soccer program in his role as Vice President for Development, as well as both a Head and Assistant Travel Coach in the Wilmington Youth Soccer program set him apart from other volunteers. As VP for development Rob has been instrumental in the introduction of several player and coach development initiatives as well as the hiring of a new full time Director of Coaching. Rob is described by parents of his players as ‘trustworthy,’ ‘knowledgeable’ and the ‘epitome of what a youth sports coach should be’.”

When announcing that Rob has won the award back in October, the Association said the following:

“Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association, the country’s largest youth soccer association, is proud to announce that Robert Elliott of Wilmington Youth Soccer Association (WYSA) has been award the association’s 2015 Administrator of the Year. Soccer program administrators serve in so many different way and are so very important to help keep a program running smoothly. In Rob’s role as WYSA’s VP of Development he has continuously found new and exciting ways to develop the program and player skills.

Rob earned this award for his contributions as a WYSA board member responsible for overseeing our Training and Development programs. He not only helped oversee the transition from our Technical Director, Rob Holliday, to our Interim Technical Director, Luke Lovitt, to our current Director of Coaching, Eric Redder, but he also worked with MA Youth to set up and help run a pilot program where U10 players from Wilmington have the chance to compete on Sundays against players from other large and strong town programs of Lexington, Sudbury and Easton. The results of this fall’s pilot will be evaluated over the winter to help guide future development opportunities for both WYSA and MA Youth.

Rob is almost always the first person at Shawsheen to set up the fields on Saturdays and has been counted on to help with whatever needs to be done, whether on the fields or behind the scenes, to bring soccer to well over one thousand Wilmington youths. We congratulate Rob on his award and thank him for all his time and energy spent in support of WYSA.”
