BREAKING: Retired Wilmington Police Detective Enters Selectmen’s Race

WILMINGTON, MA — A fourth Wilmington resident has pulled nominations to run for the Board of Selectmen in this April’s Annual Town Election.  Thomas A. Miller, a retired detective from the Wilmington Police Department, pulled papers on Thursday.

According to the Town Clerk’s Office, the following residents have pulled nomination papers:

Wilmington Board of Selectmen — 2 open seats — 3-year terms

  • Gregory Bendel — pulled papers on 1/26 — not yet returned & certified
  • Kevin A. Caira — pulled papers on 1/26 — not yet returned & certified
  • Joseph Lavino — pulled papers on 1/26 — not yet returned & certified
  • Thomas A. Miller — pulled papers on 1/28 — not yet returned & certified

NOTE: Incumbents Michael Newhouse and Louis Cimaglia has yet to pull papers.  Louis Cimaglia announced on 1/26 he will not be seeking re-election.

Wilmington School Committee — 3 open seats — 3-year terms

  • Margaret “Peggy” Kane (incumbent) — pulled papers on 1/5 — not yet returned & certified
  • Julie Broussard (incumbent) — pulled papers on 1/8 — not yet returned & certified
  • Thomas Talbot — pulled papers on 1/15 — not yet returned & certified

NOTE: Incumbent Kathleen Carroll has yet to pull papers.

Shawsheen Tech School Committee — 1 open seat — 3-year term

  • Robert Peterson, Sr. (incumbent) — pulled papers on 1/11 — not yet returned & certified

Wilmington Housing Authority Seat — 1 open seat — 5-year term

  • No candidates

NOTE: Incumbent Gregory Bendel is not seeking re-election as he is seeking election to the Board of Selectmen.

Nomination papers, with at least 50 valid signatures from Wilmington voters, are due back to the Town Clerk by Thursday, March 3.  The Clerk’s Office, located at Town Hall, is open Monday through Friday, from 8:30am to 4:30pm.

The Annual Town Election will be held on Saturday, April 23.  Polls will be open from 8am to 8pm.
