WILMINGTON, MA — Savers, a thrift superstore chain with more than 330 locations across North America, will celebrate the opening of a new store in Wilmington on Thursday, February, 11. The store will be the first in Wilmington and will celebrate a continued partnership with Epilepsy Foundation New England (EFNE) during a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m. on the morning of the grand opening. The ceremony is open to the public and will be attended by Savers management, representatives from EFNE and Wilmington town leadership.
Savers was founded on the core principle of supporting local communities, and has embraced that value by partnering with nonprofits since 1954. The new store’s partnership with EFNE means Savers pays the organization when community members donate their goods to EFNE at the store’s on-site Community Donation Center, which is now open, or have their donation picked up at home by EFNE, whether the items make it to the sales floor or not. When members of the Wilmington community donate, they are not only giving their goods a second life, they are turning those goods into a sustainable source of funding for Epilepsy Foundation New England.
The revenue received is crucial in supporting EFNE’s mission to lead the fight to stop seizures, find a cure and overcome challenges created by epilepsy in New England.
As a result of the partnership, EFNE is able to provide a wide range of programs and services to more than 3,000 people living with epilepsy in the region, and their families. EFNE trains and educates teachers, nurses, law enforcement and the general public, and offers employment training, support groups, social/cultural opportunities and two camps for kids.
“The program funding we receive though our partnership with Savers allows us to support those affected by epilepsy in the Wilmington area in a way we otherwise wouldn’t be able to,” said Brad Rich, President of Epilepsy Foundation Donation Center of New England. “Not everybody is able to donate their time or money, but by visiting the store’s Community Donation Center or scheduling a home pick up with our team, the simple act of donating reusable goods becomes an easy way to support our community and demonstrate the power of reuse.”
In addition to the good deeds Savers brings with it to Wilmington, it also offers great deals.
