WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington School Committee meets tonight in the Large Instruction Room at Wilmington High School. An Executive Session (closed-to-the-public meeting) begins at 6:30pm. The public portion of the meeting should begin around 7pm.
There is a great deal on the agenda, including:
- The School Committee will discuss (although not likely vote on until a February meeting) six revised policies surrounding the following topics:
- Electronic Devices
- Social Media
- Alcohol & Drug Use and Possession
- Chemical Health Regulations
- No Smoking and Tobacco Use
- Tobacco Possession and Use
- Superintendent Mary DeLai will provide the School Committee with her proposed budget for next school year (FY17).
- Superintendent DeLai will issue a personnel report to the School Committee, which will presumably include the latest on the search for a Strings instructor to replace the departing Liz Ehrman.
- Athletic Director Ed Harrison will give a report on fall athletics. WHS Girls Varsity Field Hockey Coach Leanne Ebert will be receiving a certificate of commendation for her accomplishments.
- The School Committee will vote on accepting $10,000 in donations, including $5,000 from Dunkin’ Donuts of Wilmington and $5,000 to establish a Scholastic Reading Club.
- The School Committee will receive the annual report and audit from the SEEM Collaborative, of which Wilmington belongs to.
The meeting will be telecast live by Wilmington Community Television on WCTV-G — Channel 22 on Comcast and Channel 39 on Verizon. The meeting will also streamed on WCTV’s website HERE.
