POLICE LOG for January 8: Cherry Bombs Damage Mailboxes On 4 Streets

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are NINETEEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Friday, January 8, 2016:

  • A mailbox at 53 Swain Road was reported damaged, possibly hit by a vehicle. (2:52am)
  • A caller reported a car was driving down Butters Row and putting cherry bomb fireworks into mailboxes.  The mailbox at 59 Butters Row received damaged. (2:53pm)
  • A blue 2006 Toyota Corolla and a gray 2011 Kia Sorento were involved in a minor crash on Shawsheen Avenue. No injuries reported. (7:22am)
  • A Butters Row caller reported her mailbox was damaged. She believed this occurred at approximately 2:45am this morning when she heard a loud noise.  Police advised caller a log entry would be made and that the officers were aware of the situation. (7:32am)
  • A caller reported her son’s iPhone 6 was lost at or stolen from the high school on Wednesday. (9:48am)
  • Another Butters Row resident reported his mailbox was damaged. (11:05am)
  • A New Hampshire Road resident reported identity theft. (11:34am)
  • A passerby reported a gold Hyndia pulled over on the 93 Northbound Exit 39 off ramp. A male driver got out of the vehicle and appeared to urinate on the ramp.  Caller described the man as 30’s, wearing a grayish sweatshirt.  The State Police were notified. Police checked the area and was unable to locate the vehicle. (11:42am)
  • A Taft Road caller reported she found a spent firework below her mailbox, but no apparent damage to her mailbox. (11:54am)
  • K9 Ridic assisted with a car search at the Woburn Police Headquarters. (12:48pm)
  • A Swain Road caller reported her mailbox and post were knocked over, possibly struck by a vehicle. (12:50pm)
  • A caller reported a septic truck possibly spilled fluid in the Wilmington Plaza parking lot.  Police spoke with a Market Basket representative who said the truck belonged to a company cleaning out the grease trap for Panera. Checked OK. (1:38pm)
  • A gray 2001 Ford Taurus and a gray 2009 Hyundi Sonata were involved in a minor crash at Middlesex Avenue and High Street. No injuries reported. (2:00pm)
  • Reports of a vehicle that beeped its horn at a school bus and then drove around the bus while the stop sign was out near the North Intermediate School on Salem Street.  Police was unable to locate the vehicle. (2:32pm)
  • An employee reported $40 was stolen from a resident of the Woodbriar Nursing Home on West Street. (3:59pm)
  • A Lorin Avenue caller reported her mailbox was run over.  The post was snapped at the base and tire marks in the snow.  She believed it happened overnight. (5:12pm)
  • 4-5 juveniles banged on windows of Dog Town on Shawsheen Avenue in an attempt to rile up dogs.  Juveniles also harassed a customer and used foul language.  Juveniles were last seen on scooters heading toward the Shawsheen Elementary.  Police were unable to locate. (5:37pm)
  • A Ferguson Road resident came to the station to report a M80 (powerful firework) was set off in his mailbox. (8:06pm)
  • A missing juvenile returned to the Milestone Group Home on High Street.  Juvenile went missing this morning, but was Police Department was never contacted. (10:40pm)
