WILMINGTON, MA — The American Cancer Society Relay For Life of Wilmington will hold a kickoff for the annual event on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at the Ninety Nine Restaurant, 144 Lowell St, Wilmington.
The kickoff program will consist of a fundraiser at the restaurant from 4:00-11:00 p.m. where 15% of sales with flyer will be donated to Relay For Life of Wilmington. (NOTE: See the flyer at the bottom of this post.) Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions of the Leadership Team, pick up any materials they may need including the meeting schedule, and register a team for the Relay For Life event, which will be held June 17-18 at Wilmington High School.
Relay For Life is a non-competitive, community event where teams and individuals camp out at a school, park, or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has at least one participant on the track at all times and participates in fundraising that supports the American Cancer Society’s mission to save lives and finish the fight against cancer. Four million people participated in more than 6,000 events worldwide in 2015. Last year, over 230 people participated in the Relay For Life of Wilmington, with an additional 100 people visiting the event, and raised $75,227.
“The Relay For Life movement unites communities across the globe to celebrate people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and take action to finish the fight once and for all,” said Julie Rauseo, Community Manager. “This is our community’s opportunity to fight back against cancer. We are excited to return to Wilmington High School this year.”

About the American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers saving lives and fighting for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We’re determined to finish the fight against cancer. We’re finding cures as the nation’s largest private, not-for-profit investor in cancer research, ensuring people facing cancer have the help they need and continuing the fight for access to quality health care, lifesaving screenings, clean air, and more.
