OBITUARY: Frederick M. Vietor, Jr., 71

Frederick M. Vietor Jr. 71, of Lawrence passed away Tuesday, December 15th, 2015 at Lawrence General Hospital.

Fred was born in Galveston, Texas on October 15, 1944 to the late Frederick Martin and Betty Lou (Eklund) Vietor.

He received his BA degree in English from Norwich University in Vermont and most recently was employed in the sales department with Scully Signal Company, Wilmington, MA for the past sixteen years prior to his retirement.

Fred served as 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and served during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1970. He was a Bronze Star Recipient, was awarded the Army Commendation Medal and the Air Medal.

He is survived by his wife Barbara Nicosia Vietor of Lawrence, his three daughters, Barbara Szpak and her husband Michael of Danville, NH, Kathryn Doty and her husband Thomas of Ayer, MA, and Susan Cadavid and her husband Edward of Haverhill, MA. Also among Fred’s survivors are his sister Joan Nenno and her husband Donald of East Amherst, NY, a niece Dana Woodford and her husband Benjamin of North Andover, MA, a nephew Donald Nenno, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his step-son Michael Nicosia and his wife Arlene of Haverhill, MA, a step-daughter Tricia Holt and her husband Jay of Plaistow, NH, 5 step-grandchildren and 1 great step-child.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday January 2, 2016 at 11 AM at the Conte Funeral Home 17 Third Street, North Andover. There will be no calling hours.
