Help Make This Wilmington 8-Year-Old Girl’s Christmas Wish Come True

WILMINGTON, MA – Wilmington 8-year-old Kylie Plowman has an unusual Christmas wish for her parents.

“A lot of children ask for money so they can shop for their own perfect gift, but not Kylie,” writes mom Melissa.  “She wants to give money to Boston Children’s Hospital.”

A portion of Kylie’s letter to her “Elf on the Shelf” is below:

Kylie's Letter

It reads: “The most helpful thing in the world would [be] to get $500-$600 or more to donate to the Children’s Hospital!! I could also use some of it to buy some Christmas gifts to those who didn’t get gifts or stuff they need.  I’m hoping to hear back from Santa, or advice from Santa to even if he thinks this is a good idea or not. P.S. Hope I’m not asking for too much. Sincerely, Kylie.”

The Shawsheen Elementary 3rd grader left quite an impression on her parents, who decided to set up a GoFundMe page to help crowdfund and fulfill Kylie’s Christmas wish.  Half the money will be be donated to the Boston Children’s Hospital and half will be donated to the Wilmington Firefighters’ ‘Toys for Wilmington Children’ program.

“It would mean so much to her, and to us, if we could make her wish come true,” writes mom Melissa. “This child is filled with love and generosity to give. We can think of no better lesson and no greater gift than the gift of giving to others who are in need, always, but particular at this time of year.”

And, in just two days, donors have already raised more than double Kylie’s original goal of $600.  The tally currently stands at $1,245 and counting.
