WILMINGTON, MA – The Wilmington Educational Foundation (WEF) is participating in its first ever #GivingTuesday fundraising campaign this week.
WEF hopes to raise $2,500 through online donations to fund the school district’s Fifth Annual Family STEM Night this June.
Online donations can be made during the week of Sunday, November 29 HERE. No donation is too small. All donations are tax-deductible.
As an added incentive, if a donor would like to make a donation to the campaign in honor of a current Wilmington teacher or staff member, the parent can place that individual’s name in the donation form’s message box and WEF will gladly send a certificate to the honoree.
About Giving Tuesday
Now in its fourth year, #GivingTuesday is a global day of giving fueled by the power of social media and collaboration. Observed on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since its inaugural year in 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports giving and philanthropy with events throughout the year and a growing catalog of resources.
About Wilmington’s Family STEM Night
The Family STEM Night, sponsored by the Wilmington Educational Foundation, is held every June at the Wilmington Middle School. The evening features dozens of hands-on learning activities and experiments for all grade levels in the areas of science, technology, engineering and math. Exhibits are presented by more than a dozen area businesses and organizations, including Analog Devices, Pfizer, iRobot and Everfi. Organized by a STEM Committee under the leadership of Lisa Ippolito and Kate Burnham, this popular free event regularly attracts 250-300 Wilmington families with K-8 students.
