Wilmington Police To Offer Free Citizen CPR Class On December 9

WILMINGTON, MA — Thanks to a generous grant from the Cummings Foundation, the Wilmington Police Department will host a Citizen CPR class at the Wilmington Public Safety Building on December 9, 2015 from 6pm to 9pm.

The classes are taught by certified instructors from the Wilmington Police Department. The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR and relief of choking in an adult, child or infant. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment by using the American Heart Association’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.

Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a course completion card in CPR for their job. This course is ideal for schools and students, new parents, grandparents, babysitters and others interested in learning how to save a life

These classes are open to anyone who lives and works in Wilmington and are free of charge.  The Police encourages spouses, parents, babysitters and anyone interested in learning a new skill and meeting new friends to apply.

There is some minor physical activity required for the course, such as kneeling on the floor and practicing skills learned in the class on manikins.

Due to the extreme popularity that this course has enjoyed, the application periods for the course are open for only short periods of time prior to each course, so  perspective applicants are encouraged to check back often for the latest announcements.

Only applicants who receive confirmation of attendance will be allowed to attend.  It is preferred  that applications  be sent by e-mail, as it increases the speed and ease in which police can correspond with you regarding the course you signed up for.

All course are also sanctioned by the American Heart Association.

Register online HERE or download the application HERE.  Applications can be sent to and questions can be directed to Lt. Scott Sencabaugh at ssencabaugh@wpd.org or 978-658-5071.
