WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington School Committee and Superintendent Mary DeLai recognized two of the school system’s young math whizzes at their meeting last week.
Anay Gandhi, a 6th grader at the Middle School, and Srikar Mallajosyula, a 5th grader at the West, were honored for being top finishers nationwide in last year’s Math Olympiad program.
Anay and Srikar were both just one question away from a perfect score in last spring’s competition. At that time, Anay was a 5th grader at the North and Srikar was a 4th grader at the West. It was the first time either had competed in the Math Olympiads.
“This is what we love most about these meetings — being able to recognize the accomplishments of our students..,” noted Superintendent DeLai.
“You make Wilmington very proud,” School Committee Chair Peggy Kane told the two boys. “We are so glad you could come tonight.”
