SCHOOL COMMITTEE NEWS: District Honors WHS Girls Soccer Coach Sue Hendee

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington School Committee and Superintendent Mary DeLai presented WHS Girls Varsity Soccer  Coach Sue Hendee a certification of commendation at their meeting last week.

Hendee was recognized for recently winning her 250th game as a head coach in Wilmington.

The milestone  was reached after a 1-0 win against Reading, at Reading High, on Friday, October 9.

“In her [28 years] here, Sue has six league titles, one Division 2 North Sectional Championship Title, and a 1 Division 2 State Finalist Trophy,” announced Superintendent DeLai.

DeLai commented on Hendee’s modesty, noting she likely didn’t even realize it when she reached her 250th win.

“We’re very happy for you and that we have you,” remarked School Committee Chair Peggy Kane.

Hendee also teaches in the district, serving as a physical education teacher at the Shawsheen Elementary School.
