Thelma M. (Aalerud) Moore, age 87, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully and is now dancing in heaven with her beloved husband Eric, on November 12, 2015, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers
Thelma was born on September 11, 1928 in Malden, MA. She was the cherished daughter of the late Siguard and Hannah (Johnson) Aalerud. Thelma was raised in Malden and graduated from Malden High School.
Thelma met Eric E. Moore while ballroom dancing; the two shared a passion for dance. The couple married in the early 1950’s; they lived in Medford for a short time before settling in Wilmington, where they raised their three daughters, Karen, Sandra and Laurie. The couple shared many wonderful memories with their girls before Eric’s passing in 1982.
Thelma was a very dedicated worker. She worked as an Office Manager for Dr. Mobb’s office in Wilmington for many years. After Dr. Mobb’s retirement, Thelma went on to work for Dr. Kenneth Leavitt until her retirement.
Thelma loved to spend time with her family, especially “her girls.” Whether it was a shopping trip or a special holiday, she just enjoyed being around her children. Some special memories included much time spent at Kennebunk Beach, ME.
In her spare time, Thelma enjoyed crocheting and watching sporting events. She was an avid sports fan, which included all four Boston sports teams.
Thelma will be remembered for her wonderful and caring personality. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Thelma was the beloved wife of the late Eric E. Moore, devoted mother of Karen Herland of Hudson, NH, Sandra Carpenter of Hudson, NH and Laurie Allen & her husband John of Billerica, loving grandmother of 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, dear sister of Robert Aalerud of Wilmington and Elna Bent & her husband Fred of Wilmington. Thelma is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for Visitation at the Wilmington United Methodist Church, 87 Church Street, (Rte. 62), Wilmington on November 16th at 10:00 a.m. immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
