LIBRARY LINEUP: 11 FREE Events Next Week; Reception For New Residents Set For November 30

WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Please note we request registration for programs that are marked (RR). Thank you to the Friends of the Library for funding support for library programs!

Adult Events:

Movie Night Mr. Holmes *RR
Tuesday, November 17, 6:30pm

This month’s feature movie is Mr. Holmes starring Ian McKellen and directed by Bill Condon. An aged, retired Sherlock Holmes, deals with early dementia, as he tries to remember his final case and a woman, the memory of whom still haunts him.

Patriot Fife & Drum Duo *RR
Thursday, November 19, 2:30pm

David Vose, professor at Berklee College, and Sue Walko an experienced fifer, have teamed up to perform fife and drum music from the 17th and 18th century.  They talk about their instruments and the history behind the music. They are regulars at the Paul Revere House in Boston.

Fiction Book Group *RR
Thursday, November 19, 7pm

Join Kim Rowley, Adult Services Librarian for a discussion of Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee.

Kids Events:

Introducing Zoey the Library Labrador
Monday, November 16, 6:30-7:30pm

Sign up to read to Zoey, the Library Labrador.  Zoey is a great listener who loves to have children of all ages to read to her and improve their reading skills.  Please call the Children’s Department at 978-694-2098 to sign up for a 15 minute session.

Star Mag
Wednesday, November 18, 3:45pm   

Drop-in to help create this magazine written by, for and about kids, and published by the library.  Bring in finished original artwork, puzzles, poems, comics, jokes, or create it while you are here. Grades 4-8.

Music and More with Bernadette Baird *RR
Wednesday, November 18, 6:30 pm

Bernadette Baird presents music and movement for toddlers and young children through age three.  Sing, play musical instruments and dance. Ages 1-3.

Crafternoons: Grapevine Wreath
Thursday, November 19, 3:45pm

When is a grapevine not a grapevine?  When it circles around itself and is decorated by you, then it becomes a fall wreath to welcome your friends from Thanksgiving through the holiday season.  We’ll create some decorations, add some others and put them all together to create a welcome sight for friends and family!  Grades 4-8.

Preschool Drop-In Storytime

MCBA Book Club *RR

This book discussion group will read books nominated for the Massachusetts Children’s Book Award.  This month’s selection is The Nearly Calamitous Taming of PZ by Martha Ritter.  Grades 4-6.

Drop-In Baby Times
Saturday, November 21, 9:30am

Babies and their caregivers will enjoy this fun storytime that includes rhymes, songs, books, scarves, shakers, bubbles and more. Infants through 24 months.

Dads and Donuts
Saturday, November 21, 10:30am

Dads and their kids ages 2 and up are invited to drop in for stories, songs, rhymes and more.  Moms, grandparents and other caregivers are welcome, too! Ages: 2-5 and one or more adults.

Welcome to Wilmington Reception
Monday, November 30, 6:30pm

The Wilmington Memorial Library and the Chamber of Commerce invite all residents new to Wilmington to a Welcome to Wilmington Reception on Monday, November 30 at 6:30 pm at the library.  You will have the opportunity to meet representatives from municipal departments, local organizations and the business community.  In addition to learning more about our town, you will meet others who have just moved here.  Hope to see you there!

If you are skilled in the creative arts such as painting, needlework, paper crafting, etc. or if you have lifestyle skills such as cooking, wine making, home decorating, basic car repair, raising chickens, etc. or if you are tech savvy or have any other hobby or interest, consider sharing your talent with your community. To participate please submit an application by December 31. Applications are available on our website and at the library. Approved workshops will be scheduled during the spring (and possibly summer) of 2016 mainly on Thursday evenings and Saturdays.  All Skillshare Workshops are presented on a voluntary basis and are free and open to the public.
