Wilmington Youth Soccer’s Latest In-Town Game Summaries (November 7)

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are Wilmington Youth Soccer in-town game summaries from Saturday, November 7, 2015.

Boys Grade 1 Games:

LA Galaxy vs. Seattle Sounders

A glorious afternoon to end the Fall season as the LA Galaxy took on the Seattle Sounders.  It was a very tight battle as the Galaxy defense led by Jake Driscoll an Cameron Molina stopped many of the Sounders attack.  The combination play of Richard Holland, Henry Almeda and Nicholas Melaragni made for an exciting counter attack that kept the crowd on their feet all afternoon.

Chicago Fire vs. NE Revolution

In what could have been confused as a World Cup Match, the Revolution had great offensive pressure from Jonathan Malley, Ari Donn and Chase Levesque.  This led to goals by Chase O’Brien and Dennis Reppucci.  This was coupled with steel-like defense by the entire Revolution team who played both ends of the field with reckless abandon.  The Revolution’s efforts made for an incredible game that left the crowd enthralled and cheering for more.

Girls Grade 1 Games:

Kansas City vs. Seattle

FC Kansas City brought tremendous energy to their final game of the season, with Savannah Beatrice, Hailey Reguera and Emma Callahan creating many scoring opportunities. The masterful play in the midfield by Dani Madore, Olivia Raposa and Caitlin Hayes was remarkable, while the outstanding defense from Ellie Gillis and Lucy Mendoza kept the KC club in the match.  Congrats to the KC girls on their great teamwork & an amazing season.

Girls Grade 2 Games:

Boston Breakers vs. Portland Thorns

On the final game of the season the Portland Thorns would not back down from this back and forth match. Goals by Allison Boutoures and Lindsay Broussard brought the crowd to a frenzy. A spectacular display of defensive skills was shown by Isabella Rogers, Casey Kelley and Cayley Israelson. In addition the midfield play of Charlotte Forcina, Sofia Tentindo, and Isabella Zaya kept constant pressure on the opponents net.  Timely saves by Ava Cirone, Zoey Helbert and Abigail Fennelly helped strengthen a solid team effort to end an exciting season.

The crowd was kept on the edge of their seats this week as The Boston Breakers, led by the offensive skills of Nicole Gallucci and Madelyn Oatis resulted in goals scored by Summer Sands and Katherine Hughes. The defense was not to be left out of this one either as Samantha Crowley, Marina Feeney, kept the ball out of their zone for much of the game.  It was an outstanding team effort capped off with great goal keeping by Sabrina Fitzgerald and Kaitlyn Shackelford.

Chicago Red Stars vs. Houston Dash

Top-Notch play kept people watching this one. Excellent offensive plays by the Dash’s Cate MacDonald & Kristal Wells applied heavy pressure causing the RedStars to back pedal and lead to goals by Erin McCarthy, Sophia Cataldi and Tessa Lebrecque-Pineau.  Defensive positioning by Shannon Barrett and Ava Warford fended off any threat that came thru making it tough for the RedStars. Srilasya Mallajosyula and Skylar Nguyen also played a great game in net, keeping the game in hand.

Seattle Reign vs. Washington Spirit

Proving they were also World Cup Competitors Emma Callahan scored for the WASHINGTON SPIRIT in this hard fought game. Maeve Doherty, Cara DiGiovanni, and Abbiagael Wiklund added the offensive punch and Sarah Sampson, Maddie Gryglik, Lilly Abbott, and Maria McCarthy held up the defense. It was an outstanding team effort capped off with great goal keeping by Mackenzie Scanlon, Mikayla Cella, and Macy Savage.

Boys Grade 2 Games:

DC United vs. Columbus Crew

DC United was impressive on the offensive side of the ball with great skill being displayed by Quinn Stockman and Dylan Grace leading to goals by Ryan Gray and Luke Kitanov. The defense showcased their skills today with John Haggerty, Luke Deprofio, Adam Veliz, Chase Heffernan, Brendan Ferrone, Ethan Afthim keeping the ball out of their zone for much of the game; while the goal keeping team of Logan Zimmer and Alexander D’Angelo made this game close.
